The Plasticity Prize for Innovation in Plastics (The Plasticity Prize) is designed to foster ideas and expose start-up entrepreneurs to an audience. Plasticity events attract a wide range of people in business, government and academia,


Terms and Conditions 

 

By entering this competition You confirm that You accept these Terms and Conditions.

 

DEFINITIONS

  • Plasticity means the entity that runs Plasticity Forum events, a partnership of Ocean Recovery Alliance (HKG) and The Plastics Circle (AUS). 

  • The Plasticity Prize means The Plasticity Prize for Innovation in Plastics

  • The Plasticity Prize for Innovation in Plastics maybe referred to as The Plasticity Prize.

  • You means you as the applicant in The Plasticity Prize for Innovation in Plastics competition.

 

ENTRIES

  • Entries close at 12.00 midnight Bangkok time (GMT +7) on Friday 25 October, 2019

  • Late entries will not be permitted to take part 

  • Any individual is eligible to enter the competition. You must be a principal or senior officer of a start-up business at seed or pre-seed stage

  • Corporations and previous winners are not eligible to enter the competition 

  • Entries can be lodged by individuals or teams 

  • If You wish to enter as a team, Plasticity accepts a maximum of two (2) members on that team. It should be noted that the prize is applicable to ONE person only

  • Only online entries will be accepted, using either the application form provided on the relevant page on the Plasticity.Global website or by emailing murray@plasticityforum.com

  • Innovations or ideas at any developmental stage may be entered as long as they meet the listed criteria

  • Entrants may lodge multiple entries, provided each entry relates to a different idea or innovation 

 

SHORTLISTING OF ENTRIES

  • The judging panel will review submissions, and will shortlist entries that will be invited to pitch 

  • On Tuesday, 29 October 2019, Plasticity will notify via email only those entrants who have been shortlisted 

  • Shortlisted entrants are required to attend a briefing via a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, 30 October 2019 

  • Shortlisted entrants will pitch at Plasticity Bangkok, Tuesday, 12 November 2019 (Time TBC) 

 

PITCH DAY

  • The MAXIMUM time allowed per pitch is 5 minutes 

  • The MAXIMUM number of slides allowed per pitch is five (5), and those slides must have been submitted to Plasticity in MS Powerpoint format by 1700 Bangkok time (GMT +7) Tuesday 05 November 2019 

  • Presenters are permitted to:
    a. Attend the entire day of Plasticity Bangkok, and
    b. Bring one guest. 

JUDGING

The judging process may include a live vote from audience delegates. The winner will be the presentation that:

  1. Meets the set criteria

  2. Will conceivably have the greatest positive impact on the plastics environment

  3. Garners the most votes

 

The decisions of the judging panel are final, and no correspondence will be entered into. Due to the large number of entries, individual feedback may not be given to entrants.

 

THE CRITERIA - Participants

Participants in The Plasticity Prize must:

  • Be early stage entrepreneurs (seed stage or pre-seed),

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Be able to pitch in 5 minutes (max)

  • Be able to pitch in English.

THE CRITERIA - The Idea

Ideas for The Plasticity Prize must:

  • Be an original idea

  • Be an idea related to plastics innovation or circular economy

  • Demonstrate problem and solution

  • Show a product or service

  • Show evidence of, or explain clearly how your idea will get traction

  • Show the business model

  • Show market opportunity 

  • Show market approach and strategy

  • Introduce the team & key stakeholders

  • Demonstrate any competition

THE PLASTICITY PRIZE IS AWARDED ENTIRELY AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDGING PANEL

The Prize will be:

  • The opportunity to present at a forthcoming Plasticity Forum (city and date TBC).

  • One (1) return economy flight for one (1) person to the host city

  • Two (2) nights hotel accommodation in the host city

  • Exposure to, and networking opportunities with sponsors, speakers and delegates

OR

  • USD $1,500 cash

WINNING PITCH ANNOUNCEMENT

  • The winner will be announced on Tuesday 12 November 2019, at the networking event at the conclusion of Plasticity Bangkok.

 

NO LIABILITY

  • Plasticity will not be liable for any loss of any kind arising directly, or indirectly, out of Your entry or participation in this competition. 

  • Plasticity makes no guarantees and the Directors are not bound by same.

  • Visas are the responsibility of those travelling

 

AMENDMENTS TO COMPETITION

  • Plasticity reserves the right to modify, amend or cancel the competition, its details and/or the terms and conditions as it sees fit at any time, and will not be liable for any loss arising directly, or indirectly, as a result these changes. 

  • Plasticity reserves the right, at any time, to verify Your eligibility to enter this competition. 

  • Plasticity may disqualify You from this competition if Your entry or presentation is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. 

PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

  • Any personal information of entrants submitted to Plasticity as part of this competition will be managed pursuant to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. For more information, please see https://www.plasticity.global/privacy-policy

  • All competition judges and sponsors invited as audience members are bound by general confidentiality agreements regarding the content of entries and pitches. 

PUBLICITY

By entering this competition, You agree that if you are a Presenter and/or a prize winner, you consent to being photographed, and to those images being used by Plasticity for publicity purposes.
